In the preceding pages, we have mentioned the fascinating chipmunks (chipmunks are essentially squirrels that live in North America and that have a very specific colorful stripe pattern on their bodies and furs), regular squirrels, the beautiful grampian squirrels (red squirrels from Scotland) and the cute red squirrels. We have also mentioned the adorable Chip ‘n Dale, cartoon characters from Walt Disney Entertainment. It is therefore only natural to talk about rats and mice as well.
Sadly enough, rats and mice are probably the rodents that have the toughest life, since they are considered a plague and they are also used to experiment on, for example for the cosmetic or pharmaceutical industry. This violation of animals rights needs to change, given that we are in the year 2016 and there are actually much safer, far better and more effective methods to test new drugs and new cosmetics. All animals have a right to a happy life, free from cruelty; especially considering how much we humans have in common with most mammals in terms of social behavior and emotional bonds. So if you want to lead a happy life, free from cruelty and to avoid selfish behavior, you can also do a lot to speak up for our fellow mammals, who unfortunately have no voice and therefore their rights are systematically violated.
Another thing you can do is that, before buying cosmetic or cleaning products, you can do a bit of research or simply check the labels as to make sure that the products you are buying are cruelty free. Cruelty free means that those products have not been tested on animals and when you buy them, you will be sure that those products and companies are doing their best to change people’s minds and hearts and start caring about our animal friends.
